Personal Support Worker Certificate Program
Do you see yourself providing care for people in need? See yourself working within a hospital or senior’s recreation centre? Learn the fundamentals for providing daily personal care to those dealing with aging, illness or injury.
The conference board of Canada is reporting that 21.3% of health care workers will be eligible for retirement by 2026. The DEMAND to replace these workers will only grow.
As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you provide daily care to individuals who need assistance as they deal with the effects of aging, injury, or illness. You work alongside and under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse. As you compassionately care for and assist patients with personal hygiene, meal preparation, household management and in dealing with various ongoing conditions, you often develop close and rewarding relationships. As such, your knowledge and abilities must frequently go beyond dexterity as a PSW and encompass a deep understanding of your overall value to each client, as you perform your responsibilities and support with sensitivity and respect.
